Exbourne Local History Group - May 16
Exbourne Local History Group The latest meeting was held in the village hall on Tuesday April 18 and the speakers were Mike and Eleanor Paddock. Mike was an apprentice Horse Logger and also worked at Highgrove for the Prince of Wales. His talk, with slides, covered the use of heavy horses through the ages and how they are used on their farm at Highampton. All the work is done with mostly gypsy type cobs and covers everything from ploughing, grass cutting and baling hay without using any oil. They use harness made of plastic which is imported from the Amish people in America. Next month the group is visiting Morwelham Quay on May 16.
